The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, UNICEF, and Speak Up Africa cordially invite you to attend: A Public Partner Side-Event at Women Deliver 2016.

Pneumonia kills one child every 35 seconds, making it the top killer of children under five worldwide. Despite the high mortality, killing more children than malaria, measles, and AIDS combined, pneumonia receives little attention and only a fraction of global public health investment. Household air pollution causes 500,000 child pneumonia deaths each year, and must be addressed along with other proven strategies to promote child survival.

This side event will share new evidence that makes the case for integrating clean cooking into ongoing programs to prevent child pneumonia deaths, launch the Every Breath Counts Coalition, and highlight innovative partnerships to accelerate clean and safe cooking to promote the health of women and girls.  A light breakfast will be served.

Confirmed Speakers Include:

Luwei Pearson, United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF)

Toyin Saraki, Wellbeing Foundation Africa

Bernadette Daelmans, World Health Organization (WHO)

Oladosu Ojengbede, University of Ibadan, Nigeria

Radha Muthiah, Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves
