SEforALL and the Decade of Action - May 2021
This report provides an update on Sustainable Energy for All’s (SEforALL) activities in the period 5 February to 15 May 2021. It is the fifth 100 Days Report published by SEforALL, offering an overview of how the organization is progressing in the Decade of Action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The content featured in this 100 Days Report includes our involvement in planning and supporting major global fora in 2021, particularly the UN High-Level Dialogue on Energy in September 2021 and COP26 in November. We have been continuing and growing our leadership role in the planning and promotion of the High-level Dialogue on Energy, which was formally launched on 10 March during an online event where over twenty ministerial-level “Global Champions” from UN Member States. In the last 100 days, SEforALL and UN-Energy have developed the Energy Compact templates that will be used to capture commitments and begun promoting them to the various stakeholders they target.
The report also covers the launch of a new, year-long campaign called Be Bold to drive ambitious action towards Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) and updates on all of our different Programmes.
Highlights from these Programmes include the new SEforALL and Power Africa initiative to support African governments and the donor community to coordinate and assist national health facility electrification efforts; the release of fourth edition of our ground-breaking Chilling Prospects report during a global virtual launch event; the first-ever, virtual SEforALL Youth Summit organized by youth, for youth; and much more.
