Tender ID: ITB No. 2025-016

Tender description: The procurement of EPCs aims to support approximately 25,000 students across up to 50 schools in Tanzania, ensuring each institution has appropriately sized units for daily meal preparation in a school setting. Suppliers are invited to propose a fit-for-purpose solution that effectively meets schools’ bulk cooking needs (i.e., rice and beans).

Context: Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and the World Food Programme (WFP) have partnered to support the Government of Tanzania’s goal of providing clean cooking solutions to 80% of the population by 2033. As part of this effort, the initiative is launching a clean cooking transition in schools, beginning with grid-connected primary schools participating in the national school feeding programme.

The programme aims to improve health, reduce reliance on firewood, and lower greenhouse gas emissions by introducing Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs) for daily meal preparation. It also positions students as agents of change to promote clean cooking practices in their communities.

With support from the Government of Tanzania and the UKAid-funded Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme, the initiative is designed for national and international scale-up. This tender represents a key step in delivering reliable, efficient EPCs to support this transition.
