John Wasielewski

John is an advisor to financial institutions, emerging market funds, governments and foundations on mobilizing private forms of investment financing for a wide range of development efforts. He founded and was the Director of the Office of Development Credit (DCA) within the United States Agency for International Development. The DCA provides risk sharing guarantees to banks and other financial institutions in emerging markets. He is best known for his efforts to bring public and private partners together to achieve notable scale in the practice of what's come to be called ‘development finance’.  Currently John is associated with The African Guarantee Fund, Power Africa, and Sustainable Energy for All.  Recently he was a Principal with Aligned Intermediary, an investment advisory group advising large institutional investors on clean climate investment opportunities. John is an Associate for Development Finance with the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
