Cristina Dominguez
Cristina Dominguez, is as Energy Planning Specialist at SEforALL. As part of the Universal Integrated Energy Planning team, Cristina contributes to accelerate the development and adoption of Integrated Energy Plans (IEPs), supporting countries to achieve universal energy access. She supports the establishment of the Center of Excellence for guiding cross-sectoral efforts towards a practical development and implementation of best-in-class IEPs.
Cristina has over 7 years of experience in supporting countries with their planning of energy access and energy transition strategies, having designed, managed, and implemented different projects with a wide range of stakeholders in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. That experience encompasses delivering data-driven geospatial models for electrification and clean cooking access, open-source models for mini-grids sizing, deploying fieldwork in rural communities for data collection, engaging with local stakeholders, and providing capacity building.
Cristina holds a PhD degree in Sustainable Energy Access from ETH Zurich, a Master’s degree in Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Institut Mines Télécom Atlantique – Nantes, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. She is an active member of different scientific societies, including the Organization of Women in Science in the Developing World (OWSD). Outside of work, Cristina enjoys painting, reading, and joining volunteer programs that support societal causes, especially enhancing the participation of women in STEM and in the energy sector.
