Charlie Knight
Charlie Knight works within the Powering Healthcare team and leads on project management and activity implementation, providing support, technical assistance and contributing to the programme’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ and the development of new Innovation Fund to support energy access for health facilities.
Charlie has a wide experience in the international development and energy access sector, having worked for Practical Action Consulting, Adam Smith International, INGO’s and as a consultant, in Africa and Asia, including living and working in Kenya, Nigeria, and Malawi for several years. That experience encompasses working as an energy expert, advisor, project director and manager. In particular, his skills include energy access and renewable energy, particularly with solar and clean cooking, project management, team leadership, relationship management, contracting, financial management and project planning and design. Additionally, before he moved into international development, he worked as a structural engineer.
Charlie holds a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Development, and studied Civil and Structural Engineering.
