SEforALL Newsletter - January 2019
Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) has launched a Cooling for All Secretariat to help deliver universal access to cooling. The Secretariat will promote awareness of the need for universal cooling, provide data and knowledge about the issue, and help coordinate focused responses. It will develop tools to measure access to cooling gaps and deploy solutions on cooling needs, Learn more in this animation short. The Secretariat follows SEforALL’s release last year of its report, Chilling Prospects: Providing Cooling for All, which for the first time analyzed gaps in sustainable cooling. The Secretariat was announced at the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program conference in Kigali, Rwanda.
Achieving universal energy access by 2030 is within reach if the world can implement seven lessons from the recent report, Energizing Finance: Understanding the Landscape 2018. This is the message that SEforALL has delivered about its report at recent international forums.
Last year we launched our new ‘Partner Spotlight’ feature to help showcase action within the SEforALL movement. This spotlight helped shine a light on partners from across business, policy and civil society who are all supporting faster SDG7 progress. Interviews included: Arçelik, Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, the Clean Cooking Alliance, Danfoss, Energia, GOGLA, Iberdrola, SNV, Signify, UNECE and the UN Foundation.
