UN Special Representative Kandeh Yumkella and IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno Meet to Discuss the Launch of the Decade of SEforALL in the Americas

On September 5, 2014 IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno met with Kandeh Yumkella United Nations Special Representative to Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) to discuss the upcoming launch of the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All in the Americas, which will take place in Santiago, Chile on October 15. Following the launch, a conference will be held on the 16 and 17 that will focus on defining the vision of the initiative for the coming decade. The IDB is a partner of the global SEforALL initiative, and President Moreno serves on its advisory board. The IDB has developed an online regional hub for SEforALL and supports studies and workshops in many participating LAC countries. At the meeting, President Moreno and Mr. Yumkella discussed their support for the goals of SEforALL and reaffirmed the importance of providing planning assistance to LAC countries so that they can reach the goals set forth by the initiative. Yumkella will attend the launch of the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All in the Americas which will be hosted by President Michelle Bachelet.
