#ThisIsCool Youth Innovation Challenge winners announced at COP27
In 2022, SEforALL issued a challenge to youth working on sustainable cooling. We asked: What is your proposed technology or policy initiative to accelerate access to affordable and sustainable cooling?
We were looking for youth-led sustainable cooling solutions that can help deliver on one of more of the three cooling needs:
- Human comfort and safety: passive or active personal, space or urban cooling
- Food, nutrition and agriculture: agricultural cold chain
- Health services: vaccine and medical cold chain
We received close to 100 entries, with around 70 percent coming from Africa and about 20 percent from Asia – each vying for the top prizes of USD 10,000, USD 3,000, and USD 2,000 from Sustainable Cooling for All to support the implementation of their idea, provide visibility and incubation support.
On Youth Day of COP27, we invited the representatives of the #ThisIsCool Youth Innovation Challenge winners to the SDG7 Pavilion to present their innovations in front of a live and online audience.
