Rachel Kyte to speak at Climate Week NYC

Rachel Kyte, SEforALL’s Chief Executive Officer and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, will be among the high-profile speakers at the opening session of Climate Week in New York and will speak at a number of other high-level events during Climate Week running from 19 September – 25 September 2016.

Held at the Times Center in the New York Times Building from 09:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on September 19,  the opening of Climate Week will include speakers like US Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz; Jonathan Pershing, the US government’s Special Envoy for Climate Change; Roland Busch, Managing Board of Siemens AG & Chief Sustainability Officer; Susan Aplin, CEO, bambeco; Eric Rondolat, CEO, Philips Lighting; and Andrew Pleper, Global Corporate Social Responsibility Executive, Bank of America.

In addition to the opening of Climate Week, Rachel Kyte will speak at the Social Good Summit on 19 September, a conference examining the impact of technology and new media on social good initiatives around the world. The Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders and grassroots activists to discuss solutions for the greatest challenges of our time in 2016 under the theme, #2030NOW.

On 20 September Rachel Kyte will keynote about “Financing the Paris Agreement: Scaling Up Low Carbon Investment” at the Climate Action’s Sustainable Investment Forum. The event will unite 300 stakeholders from national and regional government, international finance, private industry and carbon management sectors for a day of high level discussion and debate during New York Climate Week. 80-95% of climate finance will come from private sources. The Investment Forum is a springboard to cross-sector action to implement the Paris Agreement developed in partnership with UNEP FI.  Delegates include asset owners like Amundi and Impax, investors such as the  World Bank, the NY Green bank and CAF (Development Bank of Latin America), BMW, CERCES, Climate bonds initiative and NGOs.

The Climate Group’s session on “Scaling the Clean Economy: Using Better Energy, Better”, also on 20 September  is a high level networking event during Climate Week NYC to show how energy productivity, when combined with renewables, can provide the least-cost decarbonization pathway for leading businesses, and help to keep the world on course for reaching net-zero emissions well before the end of the century. Participants will include member and prospect companies of RE100 and EP100 – The Climate Group’s major business campaigns, as well as partner organizations, financiers, policy makers, selected media, and other relevant stakeholders. Speakers confirmed to date include John Gaylen, North America President of Danfoss; Anirban Ghosh, VP of Sustainability, Mahindra & Mahindra; Melanie Nakagawa, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Transformation, US Department of State; Greg Wetstone, President, American Council on Renewable Energy; and Alex Liftman, Global Environmental Executive, Bank of America.
