Launch of the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Energy for All in the Americas

We are pleased to invite you to the launch of the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Energy for All in the Americas (SEforALL AMERICAS), which will take place in Santiago, Chile on October 15, 16 and 17 of this year. On October 15th at the official launch ceremony, are honored to have the participation of the President of Chile, Ms. Michelle Bachelet. She will host the event, and Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, will present the most recent progress of the United Nations global initiative. Representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations, the Ministry of Energy in Chile, government representatives, and various multilateral agencies, civil society, and the private sector will attend the event. Objectives The launch has the following goals: i) To provide a platform for announcements and specific contributions in the energy sector, and ii) To create a declaration about the vision for SEforALL for the next 10 years. After the launch, we will hold a Regional Meeting and two days of technical sessions within the SEforALL framework (the three objectives: access, efficiency, and renewables). These activities serve to: i) define and agree on actions for SEforALL Americas for the next 10 years, ii) Define priority actions for each objective that can be addressed in 12 months to advance the goals of SEforALL in the Americas, and iii) Identify how the proposed actions will be carried out.
