Energy efficiency for energy access - Fighting fuel poverty in developed economies

The United Nations Foundation's Energy Access Practitioner Network, supported by the Rexel Foundation and in partnership with the Clean Energy Solutions Center, is hosting a no-cost, webinar-based training on energy efficiency for energy access. The training will focus on the important role played by energy efficiency in the fight against fuel poverty in developed economies. This webinar is part the UN Foundation's broad work on energy access within the Sustainable Energy for All initiative, spearheaded by the UN and the World Bank.

The speakers in this session will showcase their respective organizations' experience in the nexus of energy efficiency, fuel poverty and energy access, discuss the crucial role of energy efficiency to improve energy access in developed countries and provide collective best practices.

  • Reid Detchon, Vice President for Energy & Climate Strategy, United Nations Foundation will provide an overview of the UN Foundation's work on scaling energy access through its 2,000+ member strong Energy Access Practitioner Network and discuss their collective work in the context of the webinar topic.
  • Pascale Giet, Rexel Foundation Vice-Chairman and Rexel Group Senior Vice President for Communications and Sustainable Development, and Franck Legardeur, Rexel Group Energy Efficiency Marketing Director, will showcase the Rexel Foundation's engagement in the promotion of energy efficiency in developed economies, providing real-life illustrations of energy efficient solutions at work as an effective means for reducing fuel poverty.
  • Patty Fong, Programme Director for Energy Efficiency of the European Climate Foundation, will present opportunities, activities and possible solutions for fuel poverty in Europe.

The presentations will be followed by an interactive question and answer session with the audience.
