Energizing Finance high-level briefing
Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) - affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all - presents a monumental challenge, one that the world is nowhere near on track to achieve. We have only a decade left to bring electricity access to 840 million people and clean cooking solutions to 3 billion. But what is the price tag for delivering energy access to these people? How much finance must be mobilized, what type of finance, and where should it flow?
These are the questions that SEforALL seeks to answer as part of Energizing Finance. This year’s editions of Understanding the Landscape and Taking the Pulse provide a clear and comprehensive view of current financial commitments for energy access solutions and determine the amount and type of finance needed to attain SDG7, highlighting where progress is being made, and where it isn’t, based on a wide set of data sources.
Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is organizing a high-level briefing on this year’s editions of its flagship research series, Energizing Finance, on the sidelines of the 2019 World Bank Annual Meetings.
Our week-long campaign will include the official media launch of the report on Tuesday, 22 October and will be followed by targeted regional events.
