The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal grouping of seven of the world’s advanced economies that meets annually to build consensus on some of today’s most challenging global issues. On January 1, 2018, Canada assumed the G7 Presidency, which rotates every year among member nations.

As G7 chair, Canada will host the 2018 G7 Leaders’ Summit on June 8-9, in Charlevoix, Quebec. Situated between the Laurentian mountains and the St. Lawrence River, the Charlevoix region is open, expansive and welcoming – an ideal setting for positive and productive discussions on issues of importance to Canada, the G7, and the world. The five themes that will guide discussions during Canada’s Presidency are:

  • Investing in Growth that Works for Everyone;
  • Preparing for Jobs of the Future;
  • Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment;
  • Working Together on Climate Change, Oceans and Clean Energy; and
  • Building a More Peaceful and Secure World.
