The SEforALL Latin America and the Caribbean Hub is hosted by the IDB, and its mission is to facilitate the implementation of the SEforALL initiative in Latin America and the Caribbean region. In 2015, the Hub launched a partnership between the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations Development Programme’s Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNDP), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) to help coordinate activities and information related to SEforALL in the region. The Latin America Energy Organization (OLADE), has joined the hub as the fourth partner in 2015.
This partnership is expected to implement strategic objectives on behalf of SEforALL in Latin America and the Caribbean region, including the creation of knowledge products, help with planning for universal access to energy, coordination with national and international partners, monitoring of the status of SEforALL in Latin America and the Caribbean countries, policy analysis, and improved project preparation and access to finance for projects that support the goals of SEforALL. Increased coordination related to sustainable energy will help catalyze major new investment opportunities in order to speed-up the transformation of the world’s energy systems, help eliminate energy poverty, and increase prosperity.
